Associate Director, Financial Aid
To provide complex financial aid services to students at the College and assist in providing technical support in the administration of financial aid programs.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews student financial aid applications and determines eligibility based on federal and state regulations, using judgment and interpretive thinking skills. Awards financial aid funds and certifies student loan applications.
Advises students and parents regarding financial aid programs, application procedures, award packaging, and debt management.
Conducts financial aid outreach programs at local and area high schools, outside agencies, and community groups.
Applies federal and state regulations to all aspects of financial aid programs.
Provides assistance with various phases of the College Work Study program.
Assists with liaising between the Financial Aid office and various departments within the College.
Assists with general reporting and maintenance of databases as required.
May work in a specialty area such as Scholarships, Grants (State and Federal), Continuing Education programs, or Title IV recalculations.
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Federal and state regulations pertaining to financial aid programs.
Student financial aid awarding processes and activities.
Financial aid outreach programs.

Maintaining an established work schedule.
Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through.
Advising students and parents regarding financial aid programs and processes.
Applying federal and state regulations to all aspects of financial aid programs.
Reviewing financial aid applications for eligibility.
Maintaining confidentiality of work related information and materials.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications and student information and database systems.
Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Two years financial aid or related work experience.
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Knowledge of tax laws applicable to student financial aid.
Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
