Director, CE Testing Services
To administer GED tests and perform related support functions.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Administer iBT examination for national testing companies to include GED and non-GED exams by computer.
Conducts GED exams in accordance with policies and procedures of the GED Testing Service Policies and Procedures Manual including any supplemental memorandums from the GED Testing Service or Texas Education Agency.
Conducts and monitors testing sessions in compliance with policies and procedures for administering tests under normal conditions;verifies the identity and eligibility of each GED candidate; provides accommodations for candidates with disabilities.
Maintains the security of all GED testing materials at all times.
Assists with registering eligible examinees for GED testing and ensures that examinees meet the eligibility requirements mandated by the Texas Education Agency and the GED Testing Service; obtains student information to determine eligibility; provides orientation information to new students in relation to test procedures.
Conducts an inventory of all GED exams at the beginning and end of each test session; prepares a written inventory of all secure testing materials used during each test session; maintains inventory documentation in a designated permanent secure storage area.
Maintains testing surveillance logs, seating charts, testing irregularity reports, and other documentation as required.
Sends essays and testing materials to the University of Texas at Austin Scoring Center in a secure manner; utilizes a controlled method of shipping that includes a tracking system.
Provides information about GED tests to civic groups, adult educators, and high school counselors as required.
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
GED testing standards and protocol.
Eligibility requirements in relation to GED testing.
Working knowledge of the GED Testing Service Policies and Procedures Manual.
Working knowledge of the Policies and procedures of the Texas Education Agency's GED Unit.
GED testing security measures.
Testing accommodations for candidates with disabilities.
Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through.
Administering GED exams in accordance with all applicable regulations and procedures.
Determining eligibility and registering examinees for GED testing.
Conducting exam inventories and maintaining appropriate documentation.
Providing GED testing information to civic groups, adult educators, and high school counselors.
Maintaining confidentiality of work related information and materials.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Maintaining an established work schedule.
Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Series and use of database programs.
Be able to administer iBT Computerized exams.
Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Six months testing, training, teaching or counseling work experience.
Bachelor's degree in related field from a nationally accredited college or university.
Six months on the job training as a GED Examiner and attendance to a GED Examiner's training session prior to the first test administration session as a GED Examiner.
Certification as a GED Examiner by the Texas Education Agency.
Required to successfully complete criminal background check prior to employment.
