Executive Dean, Continuing Education
Vice President, Instruction
Has college-wide responsibility for non-credit instruction. Provides instructional leadership and ensures the effective administration of assigned area.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining curriculum and programs that respond to community needs, prepare students for success, and which meet the external requirements of SACS and THECB.
Works with the Vice President to ensure consistent application of administrative rules.
Supervises and evaluates Directors.
Oversees interview/hiring committees.
Oversees the approved budgets for assigned areas and functions including Customized Training and the Business Assessment Center.
Ensures that course schedule development process is implemented.
Assists in the development of partnerships with other organizations
Prepares/oversees the preparation of required reports, including budget recommendations, student follow-up, and accreditation reports.
Provides leadership to ensure continuous quality improvement in the continuing education department and program activities.
Provides leadership to the continuing education staff for entrepreneurial activities.
Represents the mission of continuing education with community entities.
Provides leadership in the revenue generating activities of the continuing education unit to ensure positive revenue flow.
Coordinates and maintains contacts with the community in terms of requests or needs for new or expanded programs. Coordinates solicitation of funding in conjunction with Vice President and other appropriate college personnel.
Initiates and manages special projects and assignments.
Provides guidance to staff in policies and procedures which ensures that each department has clear and concise goals that support the success of continuing education as a whole.
Provides guidance in the acquisition and management of grants.
Ensures that workforce curriculum meets the requirement of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as outlined in the Guidelines for Programs in Workforce Education.
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Understanding of the community college philosophy/mission.
Knowledge of Continuing Education programs.

Work is routinely performed in office environments
Five years related work experience, including management experience in higher education.
Work experience in higher education Continuing Education programs, including administering traditional and distance educational training programs, and grant project management.
Master's degree in related area.
Reliable transporation for district travel.
Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.
