Gymnastics I: Beginning to intermediate individual skill performance in tumbling and trampoline. Emphasis on strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.
This class is an activity and participation course.
45% attendance (45 points)-showing up to class.
45% participation (45 points)-fully participating in class activities to the best of your ability. Not participating in class results in the loss of 1 point.
10% written test(s) (10 points)-each question will be worth 1 point
Gymnastics for Everyone; John Bennett; American Press
Safety measures will be covered prior to use of equipment by students.
Demonstration of the use of each piece of equipment will be made prior to student's use. Students will learn how to set up and put away the equipment.
Assessment of each student's skill level will be made at the beginning of the semester.
Students will learn basic tumbling moves. They will learn methods to increase their flexibility and strength.
Upon successful demonstration of learned skill, each student will learn additional technical skills to build upon the skills that they have already learned. The student may learn to do a basic skill on the ground, then on the trampoline with a spotting belt and finally on the tumbl trak without spotting belt.
