Course Subjects

Word processing software focusing on business applications, such as memos, letters, tables, reports, and newsletters. This skill development specifically emphasizes use of MS Word. This course coveres the required skill sets on the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) specialist-level exam for Word. Formerly known as POFT 1329 Keyboarding and Document Formatting-MS Word I.

Student Learning Outcomes/Learning Objectives

Course Objectives:

  • Learn the purpose and business uses for word processing and become familiar with word processing terminology.
  • Use Microsoft 2010 to produce memos, business letters, reports, tables, and newsletters.
  • Improve keying speed and accuracy.

Course Requirements

Prerequisites:

Passing score on Reading portion of ACC's assessment test.

Key 30 wpm on a 5-minute timed writing with five (5) or fewer errors.
